Sponsored content policy

Sponsors help keep The Monctonian free to read. Here's how we make sure readers always know what's paid for.

How sponsored content is labelled

Sponsored articles carry a Sponsored label with the sponsor's name at the top of the article and wherever the article appears on our pages. We use the word, not just a colour or a symbol, so the label is clear for everyone.

What sponsors can and can't do

  • Sponsors may suggest a subject and provide information about their products or services.
  • Our editors check sponsored articles for accuracy and tone, and we may decline any sponsorship.
  • Sponsors never see or influence our independent articles.
  • We don't accept sponsorships for products we believe could harm our readers, or for investments sold by unregistered sellers.

Newsletter sponsors

Newsletter sponsorships are labelled in the same way, and are kept separate from our editors' picks.

Affiliate links

Some articles may include affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy through them, at no cost to you. When an article includes affiliate links, we say so.
